About Us
Who We Are
We founded Compressed Air Systems in 1980 as an industrial tool and equipment distribution company under the name BS Trading. It didn’t take long for us to realize we could build air compressors that were easier to use and operate than the ones we were selling. We started by manufacturing 3–15 hp compressors in the early 1980s and expanded into larger sizes by 1990.
In the early 1990s, we began manufacturing our rotary screw compressors using Bauer/Rotorcomp airends from Germany, chosen for their reputation for extreme reliability. In the early 2000s, we purchased a compressor pump manufacturing facility in Dafeng, China, allowing us to control our components and testing for reciprocating compressor pumps. Today, we source parts from around the world — including valve components from Sweden, and bearings and gasket materials from the United States and Japan — to ensure consistent quality and performance.
Over the years, we’ve grown from producing a few hundred compressor packages per year to thousands annually, covering the 1–300 hp range. For more than forty years, that growth has been driven by the strength of our distributor network, with our products now sold on every continent except Antarctica.
